Q&A With Alexandre Wentzo: Casewise’s Tactac

We first met with Alexandre Wentzo, CEO of Casewise, a while back at the Casewise 25th anniversary celebration, and he is such a compelling figure, we simply had to do a story on him. Fast forward a year and a half and Casewise continues to innovate and push the boundaries. In November 2015, Casewise announced the launch of its new cloud-based operational platform for mobile workers called Tactac. Workflow wanted to find out more.

Explain for our readers what Tactac is/does.

Casewise Tactac improves the performance of any distributed workforce by ensuring they do their daily jobs more efficiently. How?  The platform provides operational working instructions directly to the employee using an app, and using the appropriate information and vocabulary. This platform enables the workforce to execute the corporate standards designed by their organization. 

How is the Tactac product different than other solutions in the space?

Tactac is the first cloud-based operational business process platform to offer a true SaaS solution designed for “smart” mobile devices. Tactac enables real-time process improvement with built-in feedback loops to improve quality control, reduce costs and capture employee best practices.

What verticals do you envision being early adopters of this new technology?

Industries that have a high volume of workforce in fields such as telecom, utilities and energy should have the most interest.

What pain points was it designed to address?

A majority of Fortune 500 companies over the last 20 years have initiated some process improvement initiatives or similar projects in order to improve their productivity and their efficiency. One key element to making those efforts a success is having a platform that allows for the subject matter experts from their corporate offices to understand and execute their tasks in a more optimized and efficient way. 

In the past, the continuity between the design of improved processes and their execution by the staff has been ineffective, as the tools and ways to communicate the information was not adapted to the targeted crowd. Tactac takes all the data around process and creates an easy to read and execute working instruction and checklist. Another key area where Tactac excels is in the area of knowledge retention. Thanks to a strong social and mobile technology, Tactac is able to capture employees’ best practices, know-how and knowledge. 

What platforms/technologies is Tactac designed to replace?

Tactac is designed to replace any inefficient method of executing processes being used – be it printed work instructions or IT platforms that do not take into consideration the value of involving the human workforce in the execution of the process.

What trends do you see in the BPM space?

Over the last few years, I have seen a clear lack of customer focus and an increase of complexity in the offerings.  It appears that most of the current players on the market do not have a clear, sustainable or disruptive strategy. This results in a situation where the software vendors tend to innovate faster than their customers’ needs evolve, and most organizations eventually end up producing products or services that are actually too sophisticated, too expensive, and/or too complicated for many customers in their market.

What is your greatest concern about the industry right now?

From a vendor perspective — the clear lack of understanding of their market, of their clients. It’s time for companies to look at products the way customers do: as a way to get a job done.
