AIIM Appoints Dave Jones as VP of European Operations

Silver Spring, Md., August 12, 2015 –Information management analyst group and global information management professional body AIIM has appointed Dave Jones as VP of European Operations.

Jones is one of the European Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and information management industry’s most recognised and trusted figures, with more 20 years’ experience of working with users and vendors across a wide range of markets. He joins AIIM from Hyland, creator of OnBase, where he was their Cloud ECM industry expert.

At AIIM he will be seeking to maintain, strengthen and grow the AIIM membership and services internationally, with a particular remit to expand beyond the UK across mainland Europe.

“AIIM has long been the most highly respected authority on ECM and information management, and now finds itself uniquely positioned to affect the next generation of ECM tools, vendors and users,” said Dave Jones, AIIM. “The ever-growing volumes of content and information, combined with the impact of cloud and mobile, has changed our industry forever to the extent that in five years’ time, ECM as it is today will no longer exist. Seamless integration with line of business applications and the new digital eco-system will grow ever more important and a new term will be required to describe ECM and its role within business.”

Jones joins AIIM at a time when the nature of ECM is changing dramatically. AIIM’s ECM Decisions Industry Watch study earlier in 2015 showed that enormous changes underway in the broader technology space – driven by mobile, analytics, cloud and collaborative technologies – are changing the way organisations view ECM.

While for two-thirds of organisations surveyed in the study, ECM/DM is seen as mission-critical, the term ECM is outdated and fails to acknowledge content outside structured processes.

“I intend for AIIM to become a more recognised brand than ever before – not just within the ECM vendor marketplace but across the end-user community too.” continued Jones. “We will deliver engaging best practice and training to the next generation of information workers. To be part of an organisation that is at the heart of discussions to move the industry forward, is an opportunity too good to miss. “

Jones had previously worked for AIIM in 2012 / 2013. Working within the Market Intelligence Division, he provided research, analysis, comment and dissemination on all aspects of the Information Management spectrum.

AIIM President John Mancini added “Dave is developing into one of the industry’s most well-known and respected figures and we are delighted to welcome him back on board at AIIM. ECM is undergoing a radical change and Dave is the best person to help AIIM communicate that change across Europe and elsewhere internationally.”
