Ingram Micro Subject of Potential $7 Billion Sale
According to a report first published in Bloomberg, Ingram Micro, currently an asset of China-based HNA Group, may be sold soon. The report states U.S. private equity firm Platinum Equity is in advanced talks to buy Ingram Micro Inc. in a deal that values the technology distributor at about $7 billion, including debt.
The report is not public, so Bloomberg’s information is from anonymous sources, but those sources say that while discussions are ongoing and could fall apart, there is interest from other potential buyers as well.
HNA acquired Ingram in 2016 for $6 billion, but per Bloomberg, it is “facing scrutiny by its government [and] has shed billions of dollars of holdings in real estate, among other industries, after a global acquisition spree left it debt-ladened.”
