Boston (PRWEB) June 16, 2014 — The Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Cloud File Sharing & Sync technology marketplaces are increasingly overlapping, according to new research by independent analyst firm Real Story Group. Real Story Group’s newly released Version 9.0 of its ECM and Cloud File Sharing Report finds cloud vendors building better document management capabilities into their platform, while traditional ECM vendors build or acquire cloud-based file sharing, sync, and lightweight collaboration services.
ECM vendors actively trying to address this converged space include Alfresco (via Alfresco Cloud), EMC (having acquired Syncplicity), Microsoft (OneDrive/Office 365), Nuxeo (Nuxeo Connect), and OpenText (via its Tempo Box offering)
Meanwhile, collaboration/social vendors like Jive, Microsoft, and Salesforce have also entered the enterprise file sharing market
Other large platform vendors are not far behind; for example, Citrix acquired ShareFile; Oracle is working on its own offering to be released in near future; and IBM and HP are nibbling around the edges of this marketplace
“In general this represents good news for enterprise customers,” explains RSG Senior Analyst Apoorv Durga. “Licensees heavily invested in ECM Platforms can potentially extend to the cloud, while other customers may have the opportunity to extend cloud-based services to more traditional document management needs.” The 330-page ECM and Cloud File Sharing Report critically evaluates major vendors from around the world.
