The Pros and Cons of Cloud Automation

Robotic process automation (RPA) is an increasingly popular tool for organizations to increase efficiency and productivity. Companies have traditionally used on-premises RPA solutions, in which an organization purchases a license and runs the software entirely on its own premises. However, as businesses look for ways to reduce the cost of ownership and increase ROI, many are now making the switch to cloud automation solutions. On-premises solutions offer control and security, with the ability to align security protocols with internal policies. However, implementation can be slow and costly, and may require significant manual effort. Cloud automation offers instantaneous implementation and features such as automatic updates, however it does not provide the same security as on-premises. Ultimately, there is no one-size-fits-all solution; organizations should evaluate their needs and weigh the benefits and drawbacks of both on-premises and cloud automation. Read this two-part series, “The Pros and Cons of Cloud Automation,” for a look at the pros and cons of each.
